Unique Baby Gift Ideas for New Moms

Unique baby gift ideasMany expectant Moms are asked the question, “What do you need?” or “What do you need for the baby.” Sometimes, however, the expectant parents are not asked the question and get a years supply of onesies….all in size 0-3 months.

If you are wondering what to give a soon-to-be Mom or need a Welcome Baby gift, our fellow Metrowest Mamas had some ideas to share when asked the question on the Metrowest Mamas Facebook page: “What gift would you get a new Mom that you wish you had or knew about when you had a new baby?”

This is what they had to say:

  1. A cleaning lady who does laundry or a meal delivery service – at least for a month.
  2. If someone hadn’t gotten me a kneeling pad for when you give the baby a bath I would never have known I needed one- and you really do need one!
  3. A baby monitor [seriously, you can never have to many for other rooms, or even one for travel to grandma’s house.]
  4. A Rock ‘n Play!
  5. The Miracle Blanket
  6. A Moby Wrap -best wrap around carrier! Had it for my second who had reflux and all I could think of is that I wished I had it for my first!
  7. Food delivery (something like Blue Apron) or a cleaning lady for a day.
  8. Massage for mom and baby!
  9. Organizing a meal train. We did one for a friend recently and she ended up with a delivery of three reheatable meals once per week over her entire FMLA leave!
  10. Cleaning lady, grocery delivery and meals. But besides that a newborn photo shoot.
  11. Rock and play, someone to clean, someone to fold laundry, meals, aden + anais bamboo blankets
  12. A postpartum doula who can “mother the mother”!!

These are great suggestions! I’d add to the list, a basket of various batteries in different sizes. So essential for all of those ‘Battery Not Included” items!

What would you add to the list?
