Thomas Land at Edaville Now Open!

Thomas Land Edaville USA is now open! I had the opportunity to see the new features first hand as a season pass holder this past weekend!

When you first arrive at Edaville, you will notice lots of new buildings under construction. Per the staff, it is going to be new shops, restaurants and a Dickenson Village.

The middle part of the park, is similar in past years. However, the red brick building that has been the cornerstone of Edaville, still has the kiddie rides on the second floor, but you will notice that the ground floor is now a pay-per-game amusement area. I suppose it is good for those hot days or when you need to warm up on the cold Holiday of Lights nights.

However, there is a very nice, secluded nursing area for Moms there too. It has moved from its previous area and is a better location. There are also some toys in there for toddlers to play with while Moms nurse. Otherwise, the gift shop is still here, along with the new bumpers car ride that was introduced last season. There is one more ride that will be here (A Dark Pirate Ride) but it is still under construction.

Outside the brick building, there is a new ride in the beginning of Dinoland, with a large gorilla now greeting visitors to that area. The majority of rides are still behind the red brick building. However, there are more rides in this area now.

Continue past this section and you will enter Thomas Land with lots of theming, music and a large gift shop dedicated to Thomas products. Perfect if you have a little Thomas fan. The rides here are really unique and many are based on a variety of Sodor characters. One of my favorites was the roller coaster!

While we were there, we noticed a lot of rides still under construction in the Thomas Land area. So be prepared to see that in the coming months. My one ‘complaint’, if you call it that, is that there is no shade in this part of the park and no benches or seating, Hopefully that will be rectified soon. There are portable restrooms, but expect long lines on busy days.

As for Thomas himself, he is the star attraction at Edaville and Thomas Land. He is now the front of the Edaville train! At the train station, head towards the left of the boarding area (and before you get to Dinoland) and you can get a picture taken in front of Thomas (either from the in-house photographer or your own camera!) Plus (spoiler alert) Thomas speaks, and moves his mouth and eyes.

If you want to take the train, it runs every hour on the hour. If you sit on the left side of the train (as you face towards the front) you’ll be able to see Thomas pulling the train when it goes around the bend in the tracks! It can be a fun sight for a Thomas fan. Another fun thing to do is to make sure to pause for a moment at the entrance of Edaville so you can see Thomas pulling the train as it goes through the train crossing!

The price per person is $29 a person (children under 2 are free with discounts for seniors.) It includes all the rides and the train for unlimited rides. A pretty good deal if you arrive early and take advantage of that fact. All in all, it is Edaville with many improvements at the heart of it, with the addition of the new Thomas Land section too. They will be open 7 days a week (10-5pm for the time being) until the end of the year. You can check out the website for Edaville’s special weekend themed events and updated operating hours.

I’m giving away two tickets to Edaville USA to use in September. You will have to pick the specific date and the tickets will be at the Edaville Will Call on that date. Please allow one business day for processing. Fill out the form below and enter. Winner will be selected by Thursday at 5pm!
