Fun Kid Craft Activities at Michaels

If you are looking for small activities to keep the kids occupied this summer, or need something to fill a week in between camps, then check out Michaels stores for fun kid craft activities all summer long.

Every Saturday, at most local Michaels, kids can enjoy the Saturday themed craft between 10am-12pm. Cost is $2 and the crafts are usually themed. For the summer, for example, there is a popsicle book or cherry pie tic-tac-toe.

However, between June 15th and July 31st, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, there is the Passport to Imagination Series where kids can come in between 10am-12pm on those days and take a seven week ‘road trip’ from the beach to the country fair and beyond, with a themed kid craft each of those days.

For example, the week of June 15th, the theme is the Sea. On Monday, there is a Pirate Dubloon Necklace craft, on Wednesday, there is a spyglass and treasure map craft, on Friday, there is a Pirate Parrot Puppet. So there is a different craft each of those three days, but consistent with the over all theme of the week.

The weekly themes are:

June 15: Explore the Sea
June 21st: Week at the Lake
June 29th: Go to the Country Fair
July 5th: Stroll down Main Street USA
July 12th: Celebrate the Arts
July 19th: Head to the Music Festival
July 26th: Flea Market Fun

You can see the type and image of each craft that will be made each week here.

The cost is $5 a class per child or you can get three sessions (to use whenever you wish in those seven weeks) for $12. One thing to note is that while you can stay and play with your kids, sometimes we have a lot on our To-Do lists so you can drop off your kids for an hour while you run an errand. You just sign a waiver. The sessions are best for kids between 3-10 years of age.

If you can’t make any of these kid craft classes, then feel free to stop by any Michaels stores and an associate can help you get the tools you need to do any of the Passport to Imagination crafts at home! Or click on the online images and it will take you to a page that will tell you how long each of these Passport to Imagination crafts take and what supplies you need to purchase in store or online! Otherwise, check out the Project and Ideas section online for other ideas. Even the Michaels smartphone app has even more ideas for at-home fun.

So hopefully these give you some great opportunities and ideas for a fun, and crafty summer!
